Nose: A meeting of oloroso and crisp pot still character. Malty, too. Lovely fruitcake richness, though not as sweet as in recent years.
Palate: Very firm, oily, intense and mouthfilling.
Finish: A hint of spice counters an increasing oaky bitterness though the barley and sherry last to the very end.
Jameson Irish Whiskey combines the traditions of the past with a modern expertise vested in its people and processes. Blind tastings which have been undertaken around the world over the past number of years have proven that the smooth taste of Jameson is preferred over other whisky type.
To the nose, Jameson is clearly a mellow pot still whiskey with toasted wood and sherry undertones. Jameson's taste is distinctively smooth and sweet with mild woody and nutty notes. Incredibly smooth is the only way to describe the finish.
The choice is yours - there is no wrong way to enjoy Jameson. Many people have told us that they enjoy the taste of Jameson the way it is drunk in Ireland, with a little water. There is a magic and courtesy associated with drinking Jameson in Ireland with each glass of Jameson ordered, you get a small jug of cold water. A small drop of water helps to release the flavours.
